Sending it out to the universe

Okay. So here’s the deal. I want to move. Yes, you heard that correctly. I want to move closer to downtown San Fran. I want roommates. I want people with whom to share living space, people to leave messes in the kitchen, people to eat my food and “borrow” my beauty products.

As I said earlier, I have been here for two years. I can count the number of local friends I have on two hands. And many of those aren’t people I could call up and go out for a drink. I am lonely. To be completely honest, I know that I am not going to meet people my age in the neighborhood where I am currently residing. I need to get closer to the city center. I need a social network. I’ve never been this much of a loner, not in my entire life. I hate it. I love this city, I love the people who do qualify as my friends, but I have never felt so isolated. So.

Here’s what I want: I want an apartment where I have my own room. I want a kitchen where I can bake bread, where I can make Sunday dinner, where I can put my KitchenAid on the counter without fear of reprisal or roommate-attempted repairs. I want my cats to have space to play, and I want my roommates to laugh when they do. I want a window in my room. I want roommates who are not crazy, who can sit down and enjoy a glass of wine with me on occasion.

I want the kind of friends I’ve managed to make all over the country. Not that any of y’all are in any way replaceable. I just want to stop feeling lonely. I want more friends.

So universe, the ball’s in your court. I’m checking Craigslist like it’s my job. Help me out on this one. Thanks in advance.

  1. Good luck with that one! I hope you find all of that. :-)

  2. I think you have a good plan- it’s a good idea. The older you get, the harder it is to forge new friendships, I think. Anything you can do to make your life better can’t be all bad.
    Good luck.
I’ll cross my fingers for you…

  3. [...] Wundergirl sent me an email inquiring whether or not I’d be interested. People. I have been talking about moving for over a year. (The linked post is less than a year old, but I needed EVIDENCE.) The timing is [...]
